1. Why did you start your business?
One night my brother called to tell me that our mom was sick. She was a sixth grade school teacher and she had just finished the last day of school before the Christmas break. She made it home, sat down and she couldn't stand or move, so she was rushed to the hospital. That was the beginning of my journey. I spent 10 years as her full-time caregiver, but even with the help of my father, we couldn't take care of her for 24 hours a day. So, we hired help.
I kept the hours capped at $35,000 a year, but for 10 years....that's over $350,000.00 out of pocket. Not including bills and other expenses. So I started my business because I wanted to help people and small business owners avoid the learning curve and retirement busting expenses that I went through. Life insurance and annuities can relieve those burdens off of one's family members, but most people don't find out about them until it's too late. My mission is to change that.
2. How did you pick the name of your business?
My business name is just an easy way of introducing myself and what I do. Hi, I'm Jennifer Lang and I provide no stock market risk financial services.
3. What do you love most about your business or about being your own boss?
The thing I love most about my business is I know once that client is covered, even if the world falls apart, they are covered. Our lending partnership has been rewarding, because we've been able to provide small business loans and PPP loans to help keep businesses going.
4. What makes your business unique or sets you apart from competitors?

Our services for small business owners are vital, because most small business owners focus on the dream and don't plan or put aside for their retirement and a lot of small business owners don't realize the tax benefits of setting up an employee retirement plan. 5. What advice do you have for other businesses in the midst of this pandemic?
The only advice I can give any business during this pandemic is what I live by....... hold onto your faith. If you fall....get back up. If you make just one affirmation a day say....My business shall live and not die.....We're in a battle and if we give up, the enemy wins. The mandates and restrictions are on purpose and are really meant to be oppressive.
So if you've done everything to comply, look for ways to reinvent your business. Take advantage of small business loans, develop your own app, try direct mail with a QR code....use AdCritter......I'm thankful for them, because I can set my TV budget and they allow me to get my ads out on the Internet, TV and even on billboards.....but think outside the box.
6. Is there anything else you want to share about your business?
I would say the other overlooked part of retirement planning is Long-Term Care. We all see ourselves as indestructible until life shows us that we're not. People mistakenly assume that Medi-Care pays for Long-Term Care, however, they do not.
Medi-Care pays for the first 30 days. So if you are not on your feet after those 30 days....How are you going to pay for it .... and where is the money going to come from? My parents (like most people) didn't have a plan for long-term care. That's why we had to pay out-of-pocket. Going down to the poverty level, just to apply for Medi-Caid......wasn't going to happen. They didn't work all of their lives....so that at the end of their lives....they would be forced to beg for public assistance. So yeah, I put my life on hold....but that's my moma.
If you include Long-term care in your retirement planning, you can use annuities with nursing home riders, Indexed Universal Life with living benefits and cash value life insurance to provide income sources during those times.
